The Sonnet House has been waiting forever to share Katie + Justin’s engagement photo session from Cameron Freshwater Photography! Katie + Justin are the kind of couple that we could talk to for hours. We immediately had a connection and it has only grown stronger over the past eight months during the planning process.
Last fall they had their engagement session and we couldn’t be more in love with it! Thank you Cameron for sharing your beautiful work with us, we can only imagine how amazing the wedding photos will be!
Q&A with Katie + Justin:
How did the two of you meet? Justin and I met on July 27, 2014 at Railroad Park. We met through a mutual friend and continued to hang out as friends for a couple of weeks until Justin asked me on a date. Our first date was in August. We went to Cypress Inn in Tuscaloosa and then walked by the River Walk with frozen yogurt!
How did Justin pop the question? He proposed by offering to take me to dinner before my fall break. He picked me up from my house in Tuscaloosa and I was actually clueless because all of my roommates were talking about their plans for the night and none of them looked ready for a proposal. I had zero clue. After dinner, he asked if I wanted to go look at Halloween decorations in this neighborhood I had always loved. I was confused because he is 100% boy and does not care at all about Halloween decorations. Anyway, we pull up to a gazebo and he asked me if I wanted to go check it out. When we got out of the car, the photographer flipped the breaker and the whole gazebo lit up with lights. He and my roommates had been up until 3am the night before decorating it. When we walked up, there was a wooden table with a Bible, our photo, a candle and sunflowers (my favorite.) Justin then asked if he could pray for us, so he held my hands as we prayed over our future life together. He then got down on one knee and proposed…we were both crying at this point. After that, he said he had another surprise for me. We got in the car and drove back to my house where there was a celebratory party with fifty of our friends and family. We then went inside and told everyone the whole story. It was the best night of my life!
Katie, what has been the most exciting part of the planning process so far? I think the most exciting part so far is just knowing that the wedding is only the beginning. I mean, we get to plan this awesome, magical day and then we get to spend the rest of our lives together! I can’t think of anything more exciting than that! (Also, I loved trying all of the delicious food!)
Justin, what are you looking forward to the most on your wedding day? I am looking forward to seeing Katie walk down the aisle because I know, Biblically speaking, that’s God’s perception of The Church and His children. I’m also looking forward to becoming one with my favorite person in the world..and the swiss bacon dip (haha!)
Katie, you booked The Sonnet House on the spot. What made you know that we were the venue for you? I booked The Sonnet House on the spot because it was everything I had ever imagined. The house and the beautiful landscape surrounding it looked like a fairytale, and I just knew Justin would love it! Also, the staff made everything seem so simple and effortless for us. It was something I was super impressed with!
