One question The Sonnet House is asked a lot is whether or not we are open to host a reception only (rather than ceremony and reception) and the answer is a huge Y-E-S! We actually do it quite often. A huge benefit to choosing The Sonnet House for your ceremony and reception is that your guests will only have to travel to one location, but in the South it isn’t always that cut and dry. Many Southerners prefer to get married in a church or at least feel that is what is expected of them. Sometimes choosing to get married in our on-site chapel fits that need and sometimes it doesn’t. Regardless, if you’re just looking for a place to hold your reception we’d love to talk to you. While our pricing remains the same no matter what type of event you’re holding, what we include does differ a bit depending on your event needs.
Alex + Tripp tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at one of our favorite local churches, Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, located just ten minutes down the road from us and also awarded us the privilege of working with Erin Lindsey Images for the first time. The two of them brought in some of our favorite vendors and it really did make for the perfect day. Alex’s bridesmaids wore muted pastel gowns from Bella Bridesmaids while the bride shone in a Modern Trousseau wedding dress from White Dresses Huntsville, a beautiful bridal salon in North Alabama if you’re still looking for the perfect gown! Tripp and the best men in his life wore formal Black Tuxedos from Mr. Burch Formal Wear; our number one go to when it comes to local men’s fashion.
Garden style flowers in shades of ivory and blush decorated nearly every surface of The Sonnet House as well as the sanctuary of Saint Mark. For the ceremony Corey Daniel Florals used five-foot tall urns to flank the altar with large mounds of hydrangea, garden roses, and greenery to frame the newlyweds. Centerpieces at the reception reflected the couple’s crisp yet Southern style by combining local blooms with glass cylinders and cubes surrounded by romantic candlelight.
One of our favorite local bands, Matt Carroll and the Browncoats kept guests on their feet during the reception. We love them so much because of the wide range of music they play – literally everything from Michael Jackson and Britney Spears to The Black Crowes and Nelly. Dessert was provided in the form of two delicious cakes from Dreamcakes Bakery. Dr. and Mrs. Ference exited their reception through a shower of dried lavender tossed by their guests and drove away in a chauffeured ride from Larry’s Limos. It was a pleasure working with the two of you for your wedding day and wish you a lifetime of happiness.
