Katie + Brooks’s October wedding at The Sonnet House was a winning combination of two amazing families, wonderful vendors, and absolutely perfect weather! We met Katie and her mother, Joy, this summer when they booked with us and we made a promise that a beautiful wedding could be planned in a short amount of time. They said “OK, we trust you!” and we got started immediately.
Because we offer coordination to all of our brides this allows us to get the ball rolling fast. After confirming the details of us providing the flowers and catering, we recommended a few vendors and Katie clicked immediately with Birmingham photographer Alisha Crossley Photography. From there Katie booked the wonderful band Act of Congress which provided both ceremony and reception music, and the queens of cupcakes, Dreamcakes Bakery, were used for an amazing red velvet cake and mini cupcakes. Katie and Brooks’s were also good friends with Jason Smith of Vital Productions and he did their beautiful wedding video.
This beautiful couple had so many fantastic details in their wedding that it’s hard to list them all. In today’s age of glamorous weddings sometimes the true meaning of marriage gets lost. Not at this one. Brooks’s dad co-officiated the wedding and it was one of the most touching ceremonies I’ve ever heard. His dad, Taylor, also made the wedding favors: jams complete with personalized labels. Katie wore a beautiful V-neck lace gown from Bella’s Bridal in Hoover, and her bridesmaids wore floor length Victorian lilac dresses that were a beautiful color for fall in Alabama. Brooks gifted Katie with a Bible engraved with her new name, and they had guests highlight their favorite Bible verse and sign their name next to it for one of their guest books. Brooks and Katie have served mission trips all over the world, and their other guest book was having their guests leave them notes on post cards from around the globe. Katie and her mother spent weeks gathering beautiful signage for the reception and Alisha did a fabulous job photographing every last detail. We hope you enjoy and appreciate the beauty of this wedding as much as we did!
