What an amazing year 2019 was for The Sonnet House and it all began with Stephanie + Cameron’s beautiful March wedding! Not only did we have mild weather which was perfect for all of their outside photos, but we got to work with some of our favorite vendors too.
Whether you are new to wedding planning or have been there and done that, you’ve probably run across Eric & Jamie Photography at some point. Of course you have – they’re amazing, have you seen their work?! If you’re really in the loop then you also know all about their Associate Photographer Program. Now do we have your attention? Any couple who books with us is given our Preferred Vendor List and of course Eric & Jamie have been on it for years. Unfortunately from time to time they are already booked on a prospective bride’s date or even out of budget but now that isn’t the worst case scenario thanks to the Associate Program. Their AP allows couples to receive the same loving care, bright and timeless wedding photography with more availability and at a lower price point. Seriously, go check it out. We one thousand percent recommend it and hey – we wouldn’t be looking at these beautiful photos from Grace Bedsole Photography if the E&J Associate Program wasn’t around!
Grace wasn’t the only vendor around on their big day that we love, there were quite a few to be exact. In addition to the beautiful wedding pictures, Stephanie + Cameron also have an amazing wedding video from Genesis Media Solutions to remember their day by. Jessica Lavender Tinsley of Beauty by Jess was on site to take care of Stephanie and her bridesmaid’s hair and make up. We are always excited to have Jessica around on wedding days because she handles any size bridal party efficiently and does an amazing job.
Stephanie wore a stunning beaded Allure Bridals wedding dress from Bella’s Bridal and Formal in Hoover, Alabama which is also where the bridesmaid’s floor length lavender gowns were purchased. Cameron and his groomsmen donned classic black tuxedos from our favorite spot, Mr. Burch Formal Wear.
Corey Daniel Florals nailed it, again, with the most perfect lavender, purple, pink and cream blooms on Earth. We love that Stephanie wasn’t afraid to bring in color because it truly does add that much more depth and dimension to such already beautiful designs.
At the end of their reception the newlyweds left through a shower of rose petals before hopping in a vintage car from the Sweet Glide Vintage Ride fleet. We loved working with you guys and wish you nothing but the best in the new year and all that follow. Have a safe and Happy New Year, y’all!
You’re still here? Awesome! We’re offering unsolicited advice for helping to decide the perfect color palette for your wedding day. Choosing the perfect colors won’t come easy and will require some planning on your part but we promise the end result is worth it. The first step is knowing where to begin.
Definitely consider the location of your wedding when coming up with a main color. This color will be the one that shows through the most and really sets the tone for your wedding. This isn’t necessarily the color of your bridesmaids dresses but it absolutely could be. Always look to your venue or church for inspiration. If your church has red carpet for instance, go with complementary colors instead of choosing something to disguise the obvious. If you haven’t already chosen a venue, you should really consider The Sonnet House, look for blank, neutral spaces when possible. While white washed walls or standard carpeting may not be your vision of gorgeous, it means you can do absolutely whatever you want to when it comes to your vision for decor.
Keep your wedding season in mind. In no way should the time of year dictate what colors you choose, but there is no arguing that certain colors lend themselves better in certain times of the year. It may also play a role in seasonal availability if certain blooms are only available during certain seasons. You’ll definitely want to consult with your floral artist on this one.
Know your own personal style. When we meet with new couples one of the first things we ask is to see photos of themselves out and about, enjoying date night or attending a gala. While we’re absolutely interested in you guys personally, we also want to see trends you lean towards. Are you more of a simplistic and timeless style or do you prefer bold, textured, and vibrant designs? There is no right or wrong answer of course, everyone is different.
