There is really no other way to describe how amazing and beautiful Jamie + Mitchell’s April wedding was unless we start by telling you how amazing and beautiful they are. We’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: there are some couples that we feel a bond with the second they come to tour The Sonnet House and Jamie + Mitchell were one of those couples. After hearing about their plans and vision for the big day we were all in and couldn’t wait to see the final result.
The fabulous husband and wife team of Eric and Jamie Photography captured the day so perfectly that we really don’t have a ton to say behind the scenes. The photos speak for themselves. Our question and answer session with Jamie + Mitchell post-wedding (below) says it best; The two of them set out to plan a spectacular day of love, appreciation, and joy with the people that mean the most to them and they succeeded without a doubt.
Of course, no day is complete without a team of vendors and this was an all-star cast. Beauty by Jess (Jessica Lavender) styled Jamie and her bridesmaids on site the morning of the wedding. Jamie and the most important ladies in her life spent the morning doing hair, make up, and drinking mimosas all while lounging in beautiful turquoise robes. Jamie wore a lace, sweetheart neckline Casablanca bridal gown from Bella’s Bridal in Hoover, Alabama while Mitchell and his groomsmen modeled navy suits from Men’s Warehouse. Ceremony music was performed by our favorite string ensemble, Cahaba River Strings, and the band The Doctors and Lawyers kept guests on the dance floor until it was time for the newlyweds to depart in “Caroline”, a white 1959 Jaguar Mk IX Sedan from Coats Classic Cars. Does it get any more beautiful that that?
We can’t begin to describe how thankful we are for the chance to work with Jamie + Mitchell. We wish you nothing but the best in life and know that you’ll have it as long as you have each other!
Many of the vendors you booked for your wedding are on our preferred vendors list. How did having a venue that helped with the planning and coordination help you during your engagement? Having you guys to help plan and coordinate was SO incredibly helpful. Y’all were so attentive and knowledgeable and seriously had an answer for everything. No really…everything. I remember e-mailing Ellen around midnight one night to see if she happened to have a suggestion for a hotel to reserve a block of rooms for. She quickly responded and not only did she have a suggestion, she had many suggestions including options for family members flying into town and guests that wanted good dining options. And that was just about hotels! I had similar experiences with discussions about flowers, cakes, ceremony music, wedding day timelines, vendors that were hard to get in touch with, extra details, and the list goes on and on. You guys were so on top of every aspect of our wedding, and it took a lot off of my plate and truly let me relax and enjoy our engagement more. It was just really evident that Ellen, Corey, and Jared take a great amount of pride and care in their work, and it meant so much to Mitchell and me. We are so incredibly appreciative for all of the time and effort that each of y’all put into making our wedding day the wonderful, sentimental, carefree day that we’d dreamed of.
Eric & Jamie Photography is one of our favorite photography duos (ever), what would you say to any brides considering them for their wedding? I would tell those brides that they need to go book them! Right now. Immediately. Mitchell and I are so glad we found Eric and Jamie. Not only are they super talented, they’re also just awesome people. They’re funny, sweet, organized, and very hardworking. They made us feel relaxed and natural, and the results were some awesome pictures that we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives. Eric and Jamie really helped make our wedding day run smoothly, and we truly enjoyed our time working with them!
Jamie, your style and attention to detail is off the charts amazing, what detail of the wedding day were you most excited about seeing come together? The thing that I dedicated the most attention to and was most excited to see in fruition would be the sentimental touches that were incorporated into our wedding day. We really wanted people to know how much it meant to us to have them there on such a special day. Each person that was there played a significant role in some way in our lives, and we deeply wanted to celebrate that. There were notes and gifts to our wedding party and parents, a meaningful ceremony message that included a congregational vow, and my late father’s tie that was sewn into the inside of my dress. Each of these things was an attempt to let our guests know how appreciated and loved they are. With the help of The Sonnet House staff, I think this was achieved. It was very special to see it all come together.
Mitchell, what has been your favorite part about being married? Our first few months of marriage have been wonderful, but I think one event really illustrates all of my favorite aspects of marriage. We recently bought our first home together, and while moving and renovations are one of the most stressful things I can think of, Jamie makes it all worthwhile. Seeing her dedication to starting our lives together and the efforts she puts in to make it as wonderful as possible inspires me. Not to mention, we make a pretty good moving, cleaning, and home repair team!
