December 6, 2016
The Sonnet House was very blessed in 2016 with gorgeous wedding after gorgeous wedding and Kristin + Jimmy’s June soiree was no exception. Everything about their special day was perfect and we get chills every single time we browse through their wedding photos from Rebecca Long Photography. Whether you adore the mint peplum bridesmaids dresses from Bella Bridesmaid, the unbelievable pastel color palette, or even the custom cigar bar that served as Jimmy’s “groom’s cake,” this wedding has something for everyone.
Local hair and make up artist, Lynsey Richardson, styled Kristin and each of the ladies in the wedding. Kristin wore a show-stopping Romona Keveza wedding gown from Ivory & White Boutique in Mountain Brook. The bridesmaids wore strapless peplum mint dresses from one of our favorite local vendors, Bella Bridesmaids which were complemented perfectly by the groomsmen’s soft gray suits.
Cahaba River Strings played traditional ceremony music and then the party kicked off when Excalibur lit up the dance floor. Guests dined on a delicious feast of charcuterie, beef tenderloin, a slider station, crab cakes and one of our personal favorites, a shrimp and grits station. Jan O’Donnell designed one of the most breathtaking wedding cakes we’ve ever seen and the crowd devoured it. Her cakes are delicious and if you’re planning a wedding we strongly recommend setting up a meeting with Jan.
Their wedding day will soon be featured in Shelby Living Magazine’s Bridal Issue which will be on stands in January 2017. Stay tuned!
Q&A with Kristin + Jimmy
How did the two of you meet? Jimmy & I met in college at the University of Alabama. It was our senior year and my best friend (also one of my bridesmaids) told me that her boyfriend (at the time) had a roommate who I should meet. She introduced us at the beginning of the school year, but we did not start dating until we moved back home the following summer.
You have one of our favorite first look moments of 2016. It was so wonderful that you had a special moment with your dad before seeing Jimmy for the first time. It was made even more spectacular by having your dad give you away for your first look with Jimmy. Whose idea was this and how did it come about (because it made for some seriously sweet photos!) Thank you!!! It was my idea for my dad to give me away for our first look. I wanted it to be as close to my dad walking me down the aisle as possible…just a different location. I always thought one of the most significant parts of a wedding was when a dad gives his daughter away because it shows the love and bond between the father and daughter as well as the respect between the bride’s father and her soon to be husband. Plus I just love my dad that much 🙂
Jimmy, what was your favorite part of the wedding day? Three part answer! 1) Seeing how beautiful and happy Kristin was all day long. 2) The dancing. 3) Smoking a celebratory cigar with my friends towards the end of the reception.
Kristin, what has been your favorite part about being married? Having a constant companion and being about to grow together as a family. Also, being able to kiss my husband goodnight every evening doesn’t hurt either!
