“You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest, most beautiful person I have ever known, but even that is an understatement.” F. Scott Fitzgerald | We don’t always get to know our grooms quite as well as we get to know our brides, and sometimes we meet our grooms for the first time at the wedding rehearsal. Zane was one of those grooms that we didn’t get to know as well as his bride, Summer. But as I stepped aside after helping get Summer in place for their first look, I peeked and it only took one look at Zane’s face to learn everything anyone needed to know about him; this man loved this woman and would do anything to protect her and love her forever.
Did you take a look at the photo I’m referring to? Laura Walker is one of our favorite Birmingham wedding photographers and for good reasons. Whether you know Summer + Zane or never met them, you can feel the love emanating through her photographs. It gives us chills!
By now you can surely tell how much fun we had planning Summer + Zane’s Memorial Day Weekend wedding. Not only did they plan the perfect summer wedding and reception, but they also even snuck in a few surprises.
The day began with Summer and her bridesmaids having their hair and make up done up the street at Morgan Ashley Salon. Summer wore a strapless Stella York lace gown with beaded belt which were both purchased at Bella’s Bridal in Hoover, Alabama. The lovely ladies by her side wore peach and blush gowns from Bridesmaid’s Inc. in Homewood, Alabama. Zane and his groomsmen wore khaki suits from Mr. Burch Formal Wear.
The ceremony was officiated by Minister Kenny Martin of West End Baptist Church in Clanton, Alabama. On Site Productions provided DJ services for both the ceremony music and the reception. Summer was escorted down the aisle by her father to Wagner’s Bridal Chorus.
Zane and his mom, Kathy, surprised everyone with a fully choreographed dance in the place of a traditional Mother/Son dance. After formal dances were complete, guests dined on the delicious wedding cakes from Olexa’s Café. Summer’s cake was an ivory buttercream with a wave design accented with pops of the wedding flowers.
At the end of the evening, the newlyweds were whisked away through a tunnel of dried lavender to their 1939 Rolls-Royce which had been hired to take them towards their honeymoon. Congratulations, Summer + Zane! We were absolutely delighted to be able to plan your wedding!
