Brooke + Blake’s September wedding at The Sonnet House was one that was carefully thought out and planned for quite some time. While the weather forecast gave us a few scares throughout the day, it all worked out perfectly and the newlyweds got the wedding they dreamed of.
We also had the opportunity to work with a few vendors for the first time. Alex and Sara are the husband and wife team that make up AL Weddings and we were thrilled when we learned we’d be getting to work with them on Brooke + Blake’s big day. They were everything we dreamed of and captured the day beautifully. We can’t thank them enough for sharing their beautiful photos with us and for capturing every little detail. Brandy Albel of Trussville designed Brooke’s wedding cake, and Brooke’s lovely Sophia Tolli wedding gown was purchased at Elegant Bridal Boutique in Auburn, Alabama. My On Site DJ is no stranger to The Sonnet House! They happen to be one of our very favorite entertainment services and we jump at any chance we get to work with them. One of Blake’s groomsmen, Chase, is even a DJ with them and has always done a great job when here.
One of my favorite personal touches from the day was the fact that Brooke’s Brother played the prelude and ceremony music for the wedding. He also served as a groomsman and I’m sure it’s a detail neither Brooke nor Blake will ever forget.
I always like to follow up with the newlyweds after the wedding to not only see how they’re doing, but to ask a few questions and get their opinion about the biggest day of their life. Here’s what Mr. and Mrs. Carter had to say:
How did Blake propose? He proposed at Wellborn Muscle Car Museum in Alexander City, Alabama. I love muscle cars so this was the perfect environment for me to not be suspicious of anything. I was in my element with all of the history and beautiful cars.
Where did you purchase your wedding dress and who was the designer? Sophia Tolli is the designer and the exact style is ‘Arena.” I purchased it at Elegant Bridal Boutique in Auburn.
Your precious pups were an important part of your day, can you tell us a little bit about them? Kreamy is eight years old and has been there for me through some very hard years of my life. I know it may sound strange because she’s a dog, but she is not only a dog, she is one off my best friends and part of the family. Jack will be four years old in March. I purchased him at a market in Mobile as a friend/companion for Kreamy. He is for sure a different personality. While Kreamy is more laid back, Jack is very spirited. They are my fur babies and we were so happy to have them there on our wedding day!
Where did you guys honeymoon and what made you choose that location? We honeymooned in Jamaica at The Couples Tower Isle. I’ve always wanted to go to Jamaica. We loved the spirit of the people there and will definitely be going back.
