Jamie + Freddie’s May wedding at The Sonnet House is a story of a Southern boy marrying a Vermont girl. We loved working with these two, and we loved even more how they incorporated Southern details throughout the wedding so that Jamie’s friends and family from Vermont could get a true Alabama experience. The term “Souhern hospitality” wasn’t coined for nothing.
The couple met when they were each on a two week trip to Italy and Greece. Jamie + Freddie kept in touch afterwards and met again two years after the trip. They’ve been together ever since! After getting her father’s blessing during a visit for the holidays, he proposed on a regular Tuesday night after getting Jamie’s favorite take out food for dinner. He played their favorite song, asked Jamie to dance, and popped the question mid-dance. Freddie, we’re thinking you may be a romantic.
Shortly after booking us, the couple relocated from Jackson, Mississippi to Miami so each meeting we had was packed full of planning. We worked closely with them to create the perfect menu of Bar-B-Que pork and chicken, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and more. Corey created the perfect floral concept by incorporating dried lavender into bouquets, food table arrangements, and the ceremony flowers.
Jamie wore an Allure Bridal gown from The Bridal Path in Jackson. The lace detailing was something straight from a magazine. Her bridesmaids wore floor length lavender dresses and carried hand tied bouquets.
Simple Color Photography, someone we’re always happy to see, documented the day. Thank you so much for always sharing your work with us. If it weren’t for wonderful photographers we would have no way of sharing beautiful weddings with you guys.
Some of my favorite details from Jamie + Freddie’s wedding day was their dessert tables. Instead of opting for a traditional bride’s cake, Jamie chose to have a pie table from Edgar’s Bakery. Guests were able to feast on cherry, apple, and pecan pies after enjoying their main course of BBQ. Chalkboard signs labeled each pie, and in the place of a typical cake topper, their pies boasted cutouts of the couple’s home states: Alabama and Vermont. For Freddie’s groom’s table, we created a display of his favorite things: cookies and milk. Corey used sugar, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and sprinkle cookies to design a sweet tooth’s dream. Shot glasses of milk were also on hand so that guests would have something refreshing to wash those cookies down.
We hope you enjoy checking out their wedding as much as we enjoyed planning it. Congratulations, Jamie + Freddie! Come visit us when you’re in town!
