Something you may not be aware of is that The Sonnet House is also an incredible location for your after rehearsal dinner. We were thrilled when Daniel’s parents, Bill and Lisa, reached out to us last summer. The wedding and reception were being held at another venue and they wanted something completely different for the night before.
When the week of the wedding arrived, unfortunately so did the rain. Throughout the week we watched the weather forecast hoping and praying that it would clear up. By Friday morning, we were looking at a 70% chance of rain, the skies were dark, and a little after lunch it rained so hard that trees were bending every direction. We had all resigned ourselves that odds were good the dinner would be inside. Typical of Alabama weather in the Spring (late April in our case), the skies parted, the clouds disappeared and at the last moment possible for us to still have time to set up everything outside — the sun came out. Needless to say, the Windle and DiChiara families were thrilled when they arrived to The Sonnet House and saw that everything was set and ready to go, in our courtyard.
Guests were greeted with passed appetizers of mini beef wellingtons, bang bang shrimp, and toasted bruschetta. After enjoying a cocktail hour underneath the string lights, guests took their seats and enjoyed a split entree dinner with beef tenderloin and grilled chicken, spring mix salad, and sides such as grilled vegetable medley, twice baked potato casserole, and bacon wrapped asparagus. Our delicious double-decker chocolate fudge cake and banana pudding served in mini-mason jars rounded out the menu while the couple’s closest friends and family stood before them to make speeches.
A huge thank you to Lauren Bailey Photography for sharing her beautiful work with us. It really was the perfect evening and we’re thrilled to be able to share it with you.
