“Once you make a decision, the universe will conspire to make it happen.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
The story of how Brooke + Dalton’s wedding day at The Sonnet House came to be can only be summed up with one word: fate. You see, Brooke’s mom, Bonita, reached out to us in the very early stages of wedding planning and ultimately they decided to reserve another venue. Fast forward to roughly seven months later, Bonita reached out again, only this time it was under much more stressful circumstances. The venue they reserved for Brooke + Dalton’s wedding was unexpectedly closing and they had just three months to pull everything together. Fate.
Needless to say, we got to work quickly. The couple already had an amazing media team hired, Taylor Dane Photography and Brighton Collins for videography, as well as wedding cakes and The Craig Duncan Band. Brooke had an incredible vision when it came to her florals and decor. Corey Daniel Florals used romantic, Southern blooms in shades of peach, soft blush and creams which looked beautiful set against the bridesmaid’s mint gowns. The bride wore a lace Mori Lee wedding dress which she found at Bella’s Bridal in Hoover, Alabama. Dalton and his groomsmen wore dark grey suits from Jos. A Bank with mint ties.
Brooke and Dalton were both very involved in The University of Alabama athletics; Brooke as a Majorette and Dalton on the bass drum in The Million Dollar Band. Their passion for their time spent with the band poured into details here and there that were absolutely perfect. For example, Dalton’s groom’s cake from Barb’s Cakes was an exact replica of his drum. Guests were amazed at the amount of detail and literally couldn’t believe it was edible. Brooke and her troupe also performed during a break in the reception which was the first time they had danced together since graduation. After dinner was eaten and dessert was served, another surprise was in store for everyone attending the reception — Steel City Pop’s popsicle cart even came to the party. On a hot July evening there isn’t much that is more refreshing than a gourmet popsicle.
Glowsticks and light up tambourines were passed out on the dance floor for the last bit of the reception, then guests waved the glow sticks and serenaded Brooke + Dalton through a tunnel of tambourines for their exit. The newlyweds rode off in an Audi A8 which was rented locally from Enterprise Rental Car, always a great idea if you just want your own “get away” car at the end of the night. While we know it was not the original plan and the past few months of your engagement was probably a little more stressful than you had hoped, we absolutely adored working with you guys and are so thankful we had the chance to be a part of your magical day. Congratulations!
