June 20, 2016
Back in December of 2015, The Sonnet House received a call from Katie hoping (and praying) that we would have a date in March available for her wedding. She and Dustin had planned on getting married on a family member’s farm and as time was quickly approaching it didn’t look like that was going to work out anymore. Two of their best friends, Courtney + Nate, had tied the knot at The Sonnet House a few years prior and told them about us. Thanks you two! As luck would have it, we did have March 13, 2016 available and we set up a meeting for later that week to go over the details.
Our owner and florist, Corey, was scheduled to be out of town at this time but even that worked out perfectly because Katie already had plans for a friend, Tiffany Dean, to handle her flowers. Photographer Deidre Ruth was also on board to capture the day and she nailed it. Seriously, Katie + Dustin’s first look and couples photos are some of our favorites we’ve ever seen. These two were not afraid to go for a hike behind our property which runs along the Little Cahaba River. You’d never know it from looking at it but the first photo about is only about fifty yards past the barn. Your adventurous souls took full advantage of a beautiful Spring day in Alabama and it more than paid off.
Katie + Dustin had a custom built arbor hand crafted from logs that seemed as though it was made to rest in front of our barn. Katie was given away by her Mom and brother, Matt, who also officiated the wedding. Afterwards, guests enjoyed a dessert reception and were even surprised with a popcorn machine. Each guest table had wedding mad libs which were created by Emma Hammontree of Red Lettering.
Katie + Dustin, it was a pleasure being a part of such a wonderful day for you two. Courtney + Nate, thank you again for trusting us with your best friends, and it was wonderful seeing you both!
