The Sonnet House has wrapped another fabulous year of weddings and we’re excited to have a little downtime with friends and family since enjoying our first real time off since the fourth of July! Of course it’s engagement season and we’re still in the office by appointment for tours and planning meetings so be sure to keep us in mind if someone you know is getting a new piece of jewelry this Christmas.
We have closed our calendar for dates thru March 2024 but we are still booking Spring dates. Just a reminder that we also offer discounted rates for Friday and Sunday weddings as well as a discount for booking your rehearsal dinner and wedding with us.
It seems that the past few years have left very little time for blogging with us averaging…one post per year. We’re working on that! With a little bit of downtime we have been catching up on downloading galleries from this year’s weddings and that means we have lots more photos to throw your way!
We may be behind but we’re still just as excited to share Baleigh + Reid’s wedding gallery as if it happened yesterday. They got married in mid-March which is a great time of year. Sunny days are unusual but even an overcast one is great for photo opportunities. Warm days usually give way to cool evenings so having the reception indoors is a great option or having heaters on the patio is always a great choice too.
Baleigh wore a beautifully simple, A-line dress from Heidi Elnora Atelier. Her bridesmaids wore teal dresses in mixed styles from Azazie. If you are looking for a color that isn’t your typical bridesmaids dress color then we definitely recommend looking online there. Although we would normally steer folks away from shopping online for such important fashion but this company has been quite reputable for a few years now!
Anything in the blue family is considered a neutral and will go with almost any floral color combination you decide. Baleigh chose all white flowers with mixed greenery. Specific blooms in the girl’s bouquets were roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, stock, and a variety of eucalyptus and other seasonal greens.
“Jack” from Coats Classic Cars is a 1952 Buick Eight Special Deluxe and it is Ellen’s personal favorite from their fleet. Jack’s profile pic on the Coats’ website is even from a Sonnet House wedding from a few years ago.
For the ceremony decor Baleigh and Reid chose a simple eucalyptus and white floral wreath for the chimney, with accenting flowers and gold lanterns on the mantel.
Baleigh was walked down the aisle by her dad and step dad, and we love how Aimee Reynolds Photography did such a good job of catching everyone’s reactions to the entrance. In addition to being a great photographer she is also a dear family friend of Baleigh’s mom, Amy. Anytime someone who knows you personally is involved in the process of documenting the day you know it’s going to be special.
These days you see lots of neon signs used at wedding receptions but even if you’re planning on hanging it in your home after the wedding — they’re expensive. We get asked a lot if wooden cut out signs can also be seen and the answer is YES! So regardless of which look you prefer — know that both options are great options!
We almost always recommend doing at least two different styles of centerpieces so that you have a mixture of florals to enjoy. For Baleigh and Reid’s guest tables we used a mixture of gold mercury glass containers (above) and our vintage glass bottles filled with wildflowers, both surrounded by votive candles (below.)
The Three Earred Rabbit restaurant in Trussville (Alabama) provided a small two tiered cake so that the newlyweds would have a tier to save for their anniversary and a tier to cut for photos, as well as an assortment of wedding cake, red velvet, and chocolate cupcakes for guests to enjoy. Corey Daniel Florals added a floral topper and a small pop of blooms as well as a spray of flowers and greenery on the mantel which reflected the design of the ceremony mantel.
Both Baleigh and Reid graduated from Auburn University and knew they’d have an Auburn themed table at their reception.
Incorporating pet sketches into your wedding day details is one of the cutest ways to make it feel like your fur babies were with you on the wedding day. These koozies from Coleman Lane Designs were done in Teal & Sandstone and the sketches were even used in the bar signage and napkins.
Sarah Kate was Baleigh’s Maid of Honor and the best sister ever.
Not much makes us happier than seeing the bride and groom’s family having fun during the reception, it means they are enjoying the day just as they should!
