Wedding season 2019 has officially begun at The Sonnet House which means we are tickled pink! We have the distinct pleasure of working with couples on the happiest day of their lives and quite frankly that is not a bad job to go to everyday. If you browse through our social media you will see a common occurrence: we constantly brag about having the most amazing families to work with but it is sooooooo true! We are so lucky to be able to do what we do and we really can’t thank all of our clients enough.

That brings us to Anna + Brent, two of the happiest to be together and getting married people we have ever met. From the day Anna and her mom, Lynn, toured with us we knew that not only were Anna + Brent a match made in Heaven, but that they were meant to be at The Sonnet House. Nearly a year after the big day I don’t think you would find a party involved that would disagree. Anna is such a bright light in life that it is hard to not smile when you’re around her. This made wedding planning a breeze when combined with her excellent taste, killer color palette, and did we mention her amazing mom?

The April day may have brought us showers and more showers, but even that couldn’t kill the light in their eyes. Anna dazzled from head to toe in a slim fitting, Bohemian Chic Nostalgia wedding dress from Diane’s Formal Affair in Jasper, Alabama. Holly Craft, a local hair and make up artist, took care of Anna as well as the bridesmaids. The bride’s hair style was completed with a dainty gold head piece which tied with a simple ivory ribbon. She had an incredible photographer, one of our favorites, Leslie Hollingsworth Photography, as well as Chris Germain of Genesis Media Solutions on hand from beginning to end so that no detail wasn’t captured. the most important ladies of Anna’s life wore mismatched gowns in complementing soft colors from Azazie Online. Brent and the groomsmen wore classic navy suits which were purchased from Jos. A Bank.

Corey Daniel Florals hit the ball out of the park when it came to Anna + Brent’s colorful Spring wedding color palette. During our first planning meeting Anna made it clear that she wanted color, lots of it, and wouldn’t be afraid of bold. She carried a garden style bouquet filled with lush, garden style blooms of roses, tulips, poppies, French lavender, calla lilies, thistle, yarrow, scabiosa, dusty miller, and eucalyptus. Flowers were very important to the bride and they were everywhere guests looked throughout the day. CD Florals also designed a fun and unique cookie table which doubled as the groom’s dessert. No one can pass up milk and cookies, right? The newlyweds took it one step further and even offered guests lunchroom style milk cartons with fun paper straws. Iced cookies from Rea Bakes were the perfect touch to complete the table.

Birmingham cake baker, A. Joy Cakes delivered a masterpiece of buttercream perfection. The main wedding cake was a five-tier buttercream cake with layers that were decorated alternately with smooth buttercream and gold paint finish, and traditional brushed buttercream. We worked closely with the couple to design a monogram they could use on details throughout the night like koozies, cups for the bar, and even great food signage to reflect their Mexican themed menu (which was a h u g e hit with the wedding guests!)

Guests danced the night away inside of our chapel before being served fresh warm quesadillas on the dance floor for a late night snack. Anna + Brent were wicked away through a tunnel of bubbles to a waiting vintage Rolls Royce that a close family friend offered to drive them away in. Anna + Brent, weddings like yours are so much fun and so rewarding but even more so when planned for such amazing people. Thank you for letting us be a part of such a special day for you. Love, your Sonnet House family.
