Caroline + Martin’s wedding at The Sonnet House last March was one that will go down in the TSH Hall of Fame. It was an incredible day that was brought together by a fabulous team of vendors cured by Caroline and her lovely mom, Anne-Marie, and guided by yours truly. We’re not exaggerating when we say Caroline + Martin’s vendors were a dream team. There isn’t a better place to start than with her photographer, Anna Godwin Photography.
We first worked with Anna for a photo shoot last January and we were thrilled for another opportunity. If her name is new to you we suggest checking her out. Danielle (Ivy) Chiepalich did hair and makeup for the bride and her bridesmaids. They spent the morning having dance parties, sing a longs, and some of the best memories you can imagine. Martin and his guys did the usual guy things like playing cards and watching sports which is a nice relaxing way to spend your pre-wedding day.
Caroline was sure to add in extra flowers so that Anna would have blooms to style her detail photos with. This is important so that your photographer can play freely with them and not have to worry about destroying them if they’re intended to be used elsewhere later in the day.
Caroline’s wedding dress was an Allure Bridals design from Bella Couture in Mount Olive. Her bridesmaids wore floor length blush dresses by Amsale. Martin was dapper in his traditional black tuxedo from Jos. A Bank. His boutonniere was a white ranunculus with greenery so that it reflected a flower unique to Caroline’s bouquet.
Local wedding videography company Main Street Productions was also on site all day to capture every moment. You can see their wedding day teaser video by scrolling to the bottom of this page, just below the vendor credits.
Bentley even got to make an appearance on the wedding day complete with a black bowtie. He’s a Teddybear Goldendoodle and was the perfect gentleman while he was here. If your dog is your best friend in your everyday life then of course you want to celebrate with them too!
Caroline’s color palette was simple but classic. She wanted to use lots of romantic flowers like roses, hydrangea, lisianthus, ranunculus, eucalyptus, olive branches, berzillia berries, and Italian ruscus in shades of white, ivory, champagne, and soft blush.
The same watercolor artwork from Caroline + Martin’s wedding invitations were used for the canvas that guests signed as they entered the ceremony.
A string trio from Cahaba River Strings played the music for Caroline + Martin’s ceremony at The Sonnet House. The two said ‘I do’ at our fireplace, just before sunset on March 14, 2020.
Their wedding and reception was legendary and so was the Vintage Rolls Royce on hand from Coats Classic Cars. Having a vintage car on your wedding day is not just a smart idea so that you have a driver at the end of the evening but hello, can you see these photos?
CD Florals used a mixture of tall, glass centerpieces and lower, gold mercury glass centerpieces to create a mixture of sizes and shapes for the reception centerpieces. The guest tables were draped with classic, white linens, while the bars and hi-boy tables were clothed in a soft blush shade called “cameo” from BBJ Linen.
Corey Daniel Florals worked with Caroline and Anne-Marie to create the perfect plan for the flowers and decor. In addition to gorgeous, Southern blooms, Caroline also wanted to incorporate a good bit of drapery and lighting to help bring extra romance to the reception. On-Site Productions draped our Chapel in ivory chiffon and uplit it in amber lighting. Corey added greenery cuffs where the drapes were tied back around the doors for the perfect final touch.
Magnificent Cakes in Irondale created this five tiered stunning wedding cake. Her business is very appropriately named! Floating candles and greenery were added to the mantel and once photos were complete the bridesmaids bouquets were repurposed for extra flowers. Work smarter not harder folks!
We handled the groom’s dessert table which was a mixture of mini cheesecake bites and royal icing cookies. The cookies were done by our favorite, a former Sonnet House bride herself: Cookies by Melissa Espinoza
It was never our intention to be a year and a half (plus) behind on blogging but here we are. We owe a huge congratulations to them not just for their first almost two years of marriage but they’re expecting their first child this Winter! Congratulations Caroline + Martin, we adore you guys and can’t wait to see you grow your family!
